Legislative Update

As the legislative session has ended, we wanted to extend a heart-felt thank you for all your efforts on behalf of Missouri's uninsured. Although our final effort was not successful, we achieved the goal of informing many Missouri legislators of the desperate need for action. read more

Legislators from both the House of Representatives and Senate have been meeting with the Gov. Matt Blunt ’s representatives to discuss the scope and design of legislation to expand coverage to the uninsured. Recently, bills have been introduced in the Missouri General Assembly that will provide additional vehicles for debating the structure of Insure Missouri and other coverage initiatives. read more

Gov. Matt Blunt has asked the Missouri Department of Social Services to withdraw the emergency rule previously filed with Secretary of State Robin Carnahan that would have allowed parents and caregivers with incomes less than 100 percent of the federal poverty level to be covered under Phase I of Insure Missouri beginning in March. read more

The House Special Committee on Healthcare Transformation has scheduled 23 hearings to discuss Gov. Matt Blunt's Insure Missouri proposal. The fifth, sixth and seventh hearings were held this week, and the remaining 16 are scheduled through the end of February. read more

This past week, Speaker Rod Jetton changed the name of the House Special Committee on Healthcare Facilities to the House Special Committee on Healthcare Transformation. Rep. Rob Schaaf, R-St. Joseph, will continue to chair the committee. read more
